Meet
the crew
"While
Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatter's, sons of bankers, sons of lawyers... turn around and say
"Good Morning" to the night... for unless they see the sky... but they can't,
and that is why.. they know not if its dark or if its light "

Wild Side Specialty Tours, LLC is a small "Mom and Pop"
owner-operated company. Armin and Tori collectively sailed the Hawaiian
Islands, the South Pacific and the West Coast of North America. Seeking
a way to share their passion for sailing, research, and the natural beauty
of the islands this business venture began. Qualifications of all crew members
include CPR, First Aid, Survival, & Water Rescue Certification.
Their lives revolve around
the natural cycles of the coastal tropics environment. Exploring this
relationship is their main field of interest. Though all team members
have backgrounds and/or degrees in marine biology, they believe more in
self education. i.e. "If you wish to learn of the forest, go to the
forest." They're directly involved with the studies of behavior,
ecology, and natural history of the whales, dolphins, turtles and other
marine life in the North Pacific and activley participate in conservation
and resource management of marine habitats.

Armin is
Captain licensed and Divemaster Certified. Boats, fishing, and the ocean
occupy most of his time. He spent two years on an incredible journey sailing
the South Pacific. He enjoys meeting new friends and sharing experiences
with people from around the world.
Tori is also U.S. Coast Guard
licensed and is alumni of the
University of Hawaii. She has worked with animals
all of her life, from training to healing. Coming to Hawaii realized her
dreams, to work and play alongside intelligent marine mammals in their
natural habitat. In addition, Tori was a guest speaker on Wheelock College's
Ask-a-Scientist
and has been involved in animal assisted therapy since late '80's first
in horse therapy for abused children and recently in dolphin assisted
therapy for special needs individuals and their families. She recently
co-founded the Wild Dolphin Foundation to help conserve the marine mammals
we all love; through research, education and advocacy. See some of her
recently spearheaded and ongoing projects on our research
page.
"Capt. Louie" Laurent
Pool, born the "son of a sailor" in the Seychelles Islands,
was raised amongst boats (father and uncle were not only boat builders
but accomplished
sailors) and marine life. He carried on these passions by coming to the
US to earn a Marine Biology degree from the College at Charleston. He
sailed throughout the Western Atlantic and Carribean in particpation with
the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution's Sea Education Association (SEA).
While immersed in SEA's Tallship Program, he became further proficient
in Nautical Science and Celestial Navigation. Prior career choices have
included Fisheries Observations with National Marine Fisheries Service
in Alaska. Holding A USCG Masters License, Laurent feels quite at home
in the islands as he enjoys surfing, spearfishing, hiking and photography.
Teagan spent two years studying
Marine Science, and Polynesian navigation under Susan Lum and Master Navigator
Nainoa Tohmpson of the Polynesain Voyaging Society. She has volunteered
with NOAA’s National Marine Humpback Whale Sanctuary, and with the
University of Hawaii’s Green Sea Turtle rescue program. She's been
employed as a lifeguard, with in depth water safety training. A true water
bearer (Aquarius) at heart, if she’s not in the ocean (she's also
PADI advanced open water scuba certifed), she’s on it, canoeing,
kayaking or surfing. Native to the Waianae Coast Teagan has had firsthand
experience and exposure from mauka (mountain) - to makai (ocean) and its
native inhabitants, cultural and natural history. Teagan heads our marketing
and internship program.
